The team is actually selected pretty good. I don't think a lot of you know about the players outside of your area. I do think Greene from Leesville is a snub. Jerrell Rhodes, Torrence Hunt come to mind as well. I am from Fayetteville and James Hopper not being selected is a complete mind boggler. What about Marlon Locklear? An all-state running back selection from Purnell Swett.

While you may think there are players who should have got invited, I doubt people on here know much about all of the players on this roster. Remember, when you add a player, you have to take another player out, and you have to have a balance in positions. To downgrade a specific player, though, I'm not going to get in on that. I think every player on here is special, and I think every player on here will represent North Carolina well in December.

I disagree completely about the politics of the process. While there are some politics in everything, if this was about politics you would see players from the coaches' schools. You don't see that. The coaching staffs have put together the best possible team in their eyes, and they will take them to South Carolina in mid-December to hopefully win the Shrine Bowl for North Carolina.

I am amazed at the politics involved in picking these teams. I thought the Shrine Bowl is a showcase of the best talent NC has to offer? I agree with OTAYBW there are talent rich teams and these are the palyers chosen. I mean Kevin Fogg isn't a gamebreaker and he is chosen? What about K.Howell,A. Faison, and Gorham. The Shrine Bowl team has become a joke.

The Shrine Bowl combines were held last spring and from those combines, a group was invited to a second round of "try-outs" in Burlington. Zach Greene was the only one of the players Pride07 listed who was invited to the second round. My understanding was that the team would be selected from those players (and I believe that it was). I personally believe he was worthy of selection and all of these players mentioned here have had great seasons. However, I'm not going to get into publicly second guessing the coaches who chose the team or putting down players who were selected. It is a tough job. Last year, we were fortunate enough to have two players chosen and there were those who thought their player should be there. Congratulations to those that made the team.

Pridefootball07 is right, what else does a player have to do???? There should be a player or two from Leesville. And I'm a Millbrook fan & parent

I've got to be like everyone else. This roster is hard to swallow. Manufreak is right: from what the Cap 7 represents this year, there's not much representation. As least other players should be there. As well as other players from other conferences. But Kevin Fogg? A good runner, but he hasn't been consistent this year. And he's been injured if I'm not correct. He's not even in the N&O top rushers. And only two players from the Cap 7? Very strange & concerning on how these decisions are made. As a past post I put up about the AP rankings, A lot of this appears to be popularity and how networked the coaches are. Not based on the player's accomplishments of the season. I mean Torrey White of WFR should be there as a receiver. Kuwon, yes 20 TDs, should be there. Let alone what he brings for possible excitement to watch.

Nick, can you share some insights on how these decisions are made & what goes into this. Again, very concerning.
