The following is a written statement from Ravenscroft senior power forward Ryan Kelly. Kelly committed to Duke University on Thursday evening, and is considered one of the top national recruits in the Class of 2009.
"I would like to begin by saying thank you to all of the college coaches and assistant coaches who have taken an interest in me over the last couple of years. And while at the end of the day, I can only choose one place to attend school, I feel very blessed to have met so many amazing people during this journey who have helped to encourage me in the game of basketball. They have all represented their programs and universities with a great deal of class.
"While there are many things that all of these programs can offer in order to help me develop in and out of the classroom, I promise to offer my future college team my integrity, a drive to excel, and my faith. I credit God, my parents, grandparents, brother Sean, sister Erin, aunts, uncles and cousins, along with my coaches both at Ravenscroft and D-One Sports, my teammates and the Ravenscroft School community for giving me the foundation for those values. I am particularly grateful to Coach Billerman, my coach at Ravenscroft.
"From the beginning, my family made it clear to me that this was going to be my decision. To that end, after gathering a great deal of information, thinking through things clearly, I am ready to announce with confidence that I will look forward to attending Duke University."
