WCPSS cancels all weekend activities, Friday's still on

Sep 5, 2008

Due to the new threats posed to the Triangle area, the Wake County Public School System has canceled all weekend activities at all schools including practices, games, and community use.

This will impact youth sports organizations that use Wake County facilities as well.

According to a release from Wake County Schools, the system believes all activities and sporting events scheduled for Friday will not be impacted by the storm.

At this time, HighSchoolOT.com is not aware of any area high school football games originally scheduled for Friday that have been postponed.

A number of games were played Thursday in anticipation of deteriorating weather.

The forecast track for Tropical Storm Hanna has shifted westward throughout the day Friday, and it is not expected to track closer to the Triangle area. As a result, stronger winds and heavier rain are now expected, and there is a threat of isolated tornadoes, according to WRAL-TV meteorologists.

If any game postponements or cancellations occur, HighSchoolOT.com will have that information posted as soon as it is reported. Otherwise, come back Friday night for high school football coverage.
