After brief concern, Millbrook cruises past Knightdale

Aug 30, 2008

Knightdale returned the opening kick off Friday night all the way back for a touchdown, but that was not a sign of things to come.

The 7-0 lead for the Knights didn't last long.

Kuwon Eldridge caught a 16-yard pass from Brian Kass to tie the game in the first quarter, and the 7-7 draw was the score heading into the second.

That's where the game's excitement ends.

Millbrook outscored Knightdale 41-12 in the final three quarters of play.

Kass completed 20 of 34 throws for 279-yards and one touchdown, and his favorite target was Scott Gray.

Gray recorded 107 receiving yards.

Kass led the Wildcats in rushing as well with 111-yards on 16 carries. Eldridge had 61-yards on 12 carries.

As a team, Millbrook was responsible for 485-yards on offense, while they held Knightdale to just 197-yards.

Millbrook advances to 2-0 on the season with an easy 48-19 win over the Knights.

Another good game by the Brook. They came out a little sluggish and that resulted in the opening kickoff being returned. They buckled down and just pounded away. Their D looked very good in the game. Their D only gave up 12 points seeing that the other 7 was from the opening kickoff. Millbrook is going to be a very good team if their D can continue to improve and play like they are.
