HighSchoolOT.com has confirmed through head coach Nelson Smith that Garner stand-out wide receiver Josh Brooks will play on Friday night against Middle Creek.
Brooks, a junior, missed the season opener and shut-out loss to Millbrook last week.
It was first learned last week that Brooks would miss the Millbrook game after he did not participate in the Trojans' scrimmage against Broughton, nor the Pigskin Kick-Off at Wake Forest-Rolesville. Sources also told HighSchoolOT.com that Brooks did not participate in practices in the early parts of August.
Brooks has received all necessary conditioning hours required by the N.C. High School Athletic Association, and he will play at Middle Creek.
Original reports indicated that Brooks would miss the first two games of the season.
Last season, the 6-foot-5 Brooks recorded more than 800 receiving yards for 11 touchdowns.
In the losing effort against Millbrook on Friday, the Trojans threw for almost 200-yards. That number should only go up with the addition of Brooks.
HighSchoolOT.com's Greater Neuse River correspondent Beth Brundage contributed to this report.
