Aug 26, 2008

Last season, both Green Hope and Jordan went into their second week of play with records of 0-1. When the night was over, Jordan had evened their recorded at 1-1.

Green Hope took an early 7-0 lead when Max Drisko, a quarterback at Middle Creek this season, connected with Matt Barber for a 12-yard touchdown pass.

A key player for Jordan this seaon will be J.R. Rhodes. Rhodes did his part in the first quarter last year against Green Hope to tie the game at seven, running 38-yards after the swing pass from Philip Love for the score, but after a botched point-after, Green Hope still led 7-6.

Later in the quarter, Rhodes took the hand-off from Love and headed up the middle. The junior ran 50-yards right through the Green Hope secondary, barely touched as he crossed the goal line.

Jordan led 13-7.

In the second quarter, Drisko aired one out down the right sideline, but he was picked off by Delson McAdams, and it turned into a 68-yard pick-six.

That was the beginning of the end for Green Hope that game, falling big to Jordan, 44-19.

Rhodes scored four touchdowns in Jordan's defeat of Green Hope last August, and every part of the Jordan team scored. In addition to the pick-six, K. Jeffers took a blocked punt to the house.

Drisko completed 16 of 23 passes, for 134-yards and three touchdowns. Love completed five of eight passes for 122-yards and one touchdown.

Bryce Palmer led Green Hope in receiving with 45-yards on three catches, but Jake Trimble added another 35-yards, while Barber had 27.

Rhodes led Jordan in rushing with 115-yards, and he was second in receiving with 38-yards on one catch.
