Green Hope starting quarterback Marcus Varsano was injured last week in one of the Falcons' scrimmages. The senior re-injured a knee that required surgery last season and kept him on the side line for sometime.
The extent of the injury was not known earlier this week when assistant coach Colby McDougall was interviewed at the HighSchoolOT.com launch party, but head coach Steve Katz said in an e-mail to HighSchoolOT.com, "We hope for the best."
Sophomore quarterback Kameron Bryant started for the Falcons on Friday.
Bryant was brought up to the varsity team last season after Varsano went out with his knee injury. He started in four games, and saw action in six.
On Friday night, Bryant completed 18 of 26 passes for 286-yards, including one touchdown pass. Senior Matt Burke was his favorite target, catching the only touchdown pass for the Falcons, but seniors Bryce Palmer and Jake Trimble also posted significant yardage.
Burke's touchdown catch tied the game at seven in the second quarter.
Green Hope fell to Wakefield 34-13 after being tied at seven during halftime. Wakefield scored 27-points in the second half, including 14-points in the third quarter. Green Hope scored six points in the fourth quarter.
Green Hope will host Durham Jordan next week in the battle of the Falcons and the HighSchoolOT.com Game of the Week.
