Green Hope High School's Ashley Williams will play college basketball at NC State University.
Williams, who plays point guard for the Falcons, accepted an invited walk-on position at the school, according to Green Hope Athletic Director Wayne Bragg.
A 3-year starter for Green Hope, Williams has been named twice to the Tri-9 All-Conference team and to the N.C. High School Athletic Association 4-A All-Eastern Regional team. Williams has also been an all-district and all-area selection.
Last season, Williams led the state in assists, averaging 7.0 per game. She also added 15.8 points per game, 4.5 steals and 4.2 rebounds, helping Green Hope to a 28-3 record.
In her time at Green Hope, the Falcons have posted an impressive 87-6 record, winning three straight Tri-9 Conference titles.
"[Williams] turned down a number of scholarships to play for State and Kellie Harper and her staff," Green Hope coach Mike Robinson said. "She is a natural point guard who sees the floor very well. I think her leaderships and work ethic will be an asset to NC State going forward, just as she has been at Green Hope the past three years."
