Panther Creek High School announced Monday the formation of a new coaching staff for men’s basketball. L.J. Hepp, Dameon Clay, and Shawan Robinson will combine efforts to lead the program during the 2012-13 school year.
Hepp served as the program’s first head varsity coach from 2006 until 2009. His final two teams won back-to-back Tri-8 Conference Tournament Championships and posted a combined record of 50-10. Hepp will return to the program as the head varsity coach.
Hepp recently was named Panther Creek’s athletic director effective July 2.
Clay returns for his second season with the men’s program but in a new capacity. Clay served as head junior varsity men’s coach this past season, next year he will serve as a varsity assistant coach. He is employed as a school counselor at Panther Creek.
Robinson was a four-time Academic All-ACC selection at Clemson University and completed his Clemson career ranking in the top-20 in school history for career points, three-point shooting percentage, free throw percentage, and steals. He continued his career professionally in Europe for three seasons.
Robinson will serve as a varsity assistant coach and the head junior varsity coach. He has taught in the Wake County Public School System the past two school years and will be teaching at Panther Creek when school starts in August.
