Softball, 1-A baseball postponed to Saturday start

The North Carolina High School Athletic Association state softball championships will begin a day late after heavy rain in Raleigh Friday pushed back the start of the best-of-three series.

Games at all four classifications are now slated to start at 11 a.m. Saturday at Walnut Creek Softball Complex.

  • In Class 4-A, Porter Ridge (31-1) takes on Holly Springs (24-3)
  • In Class 3-A, Charles B. Aycock (29-2) faces Fred T. Foard (25-4)
  • In Class 2-A, Masison (23-3) meets Beddingfield (26-4)
  • In Class 1-A, it is Camden (16-11) vs. South Stanly (25-6)

Game two will begin at 2:30 p.m. in each series and any necessary third games would be played Sunday at 1 p.m.

Three out of four classifications of baseball championships got their series started. The 1-A game between Voyager Academy and South Stanly was postponed Friday by rain. That series will begin Saturday at 11 a.m. at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
