Garner High School's Dominique Reed will play basketball at Mount Olive College next fall.
The 6-foot-5, 200-pound center and power foward will sign his letter of intent on Friday at his high school.
This past season, Reed averaged 18.5 points, 9.8 rebounds and 4.1 blocks per game for the Trojans, helping the team to a 24-4 overall record. Reed scored 20 points or more on 13 different occasions this past season. Garner won the Greater Neuse River 4-A Conference title with a 13-1 league record.
Garner advanced to the third round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association 4-A state playoffs where it fell to Millbrook, 62-57.
Reed was named the Most Valuable Player of the HighSchoolOT.com Holiday Invitational, leading Garner to the American Airlines Bracket Championship. Garner defeated Strake Jesuit (Texas), Kinston, and St. Raymond (NY) to win the championship. Reed scored 56 points in the three game stretch.
An all-conference performer, Reed was also named the N.C. Basketball Coaches Association District 5 Player of the Year. NCPreps.com named him to the all-state team, as did the NCBCA.
