CarolinaPreps.com is reporting that Chip Williams has resigned as the head football coach at Scotland County.
Williams went to Scotland County in 2008, replacing Mark Barnes who left to coach at Brevard High School. This past season the Fighting Scots won the N.C. High School Athletic Association 4-A state championship, finishing a perfect season.
Prior to coaching at Scotland, Williams spent one season at Wakefield High School in Raleigh after retiring from New Bern High School.
Scotland County, a traditional football powerhouse in North Carolina, was 15-0 last season. The Scots defeated Porter Ridge 42-16 in the state championship game.
