High school basketball games scheduled to be held at Duke and NC Central later this month have been moved to Crown Arena in Fayetteville.
Bleid Sports was scheduled to host the Clash at Cameron and Clash at Central events on Dec. 16 & 17, but a recent NCAA ruling will keep those events from happening.
The events held by Bleid Sports have been declared non-scholastic events, and the NCAA does not allow non-scholastic events to take place at college facilities.
Matthew Moyer, Head of Basketball Operations for Bleid Sports, notified participating high school basketball coaches by email on Thursday that the event has been moved to Crown Arena.
Crown Arena is also used to host the N.C. High School Athletic Association's Eastern Regional Final.
"I am excited about the location and I feel this is a great opportunity for all of us," Moyer said in an e-mail to coaches.
Moyer said in the e-mail that changes to the schedule may have to be made. In addition, Disney on Ice will be taking place directly across the parking lot at Crown Coliseum.
Questions were raised about the Clash at Cameron last week after the NCAA barred Bleid Sports from hosting a similar event at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Ky.
Neither Bleid Sports nor the NCAA returned emails to HighSchoolOT.com regarding the ruling last week.
Area boys teams scheduled to participate in the event include Body of Christ, Christian Faith, Farmville Central, Kestrel Heights, Kinston, Millbrook, Mount Zion, Northwood, Rocky Mount Prep, Seventy First and South View. Girls teams include Farmville Central, Kinston, Northwood and South View.
