In a release to the media on Friday afternoon, the N.C. High School Athletic Association said regional pairing will be released this weekend, but noted it could be either Saturday or Sunday.
Wrestling state championships are being held this weekend, and that may keep the NCHSAA staff busy on Saturday, delaying the release of the regional pairings until Sunday.
The NCHSAA re-pairs the basketball playoffs after the sectional finals - which occur on Friday.
Regional schedules were released on Thursday. The 4-A girls will play on Thursday night at J.H. Rose High School, while the boys will play on Friday at East Carolina's Minges Coliseum.
The regional finals will be held on Saturday. Winners in the regional final games will play for the state championship the following the Saturday.
