Two days after defeating top-ranked Northern Durham in the first round of the state playoffs, Wake Forest-Rolesville fell to conference opponent Millbrook in the sectional semifinals, 52-35.
Millbrook took control early, outscoring Wake Forest-Rolesville 16-5 in the first quarter.
Wake Forest-Rolesville tried to make up some ground in the second quarter, scoring three more points than Millbrook before going into the half.
The Wildcats led 25-17 at the break.
Millbrook began to pull away in the third quarter as it's defense held Wake Forest-Rolesville to just five-poitns.
After scoring 11-points of it's own in the third period, Millbrook led 36-22 going into the final period where the Wildcats outscored the Cougars by three-points.
Millbrook was led by Courtney Spearman with 16-points. Alex Tomlinson also scored 11-points for the Wildcats.
Rena Wakama led Wake Forest-Rolesville with 12-points. She was the only Cougar player to score in double-figures.
Millbrook will travel to undefeated Green Hope on Friday night. The winner of the game will advance to the regional semifinals in Greenville next week.
