Knightdale Basketball - Generic Graphic
The offensive portion of the game wasn't great, but in the playoffs it's about winning and advancing.
That's exactly what Knightdale did against Jack Britt on Wednesday evening as the Knights defeated the Buccaneers, 39-31.
Knightdale and Jack Britt combined for a total of six-points in the first quarter. The Knights, however, owned the 4-2 advantage going into the second period.
With a two-point lead, Knightdale built onto its advantage in the second quarter, outscoring Britt 10-7 to take a 14-9 lead into halftime.
But Jack Britt wasn't ready to fold.
The Bucs fought back in the third quarter to take a 23-20 lead going into the final period.
Knightdale was averaging less than seven-points per quarter in the game, and that statistic made the fourth quarter very impressive.
The Knights nearly doubled their offensive output for the game in the fourth quarter, scoring 19-points while holding Britt to eight-points.
Knightdale was led by Aaron Smith with 15-points. Smith was the only Knight player to score in double-figures, but the team also got nine-points from Tyler Nicholson.
On Friday, Knightdale will travel to undefeated Terry Sanford in the sectional final. The winner of the game will advance to the regional semifinals next week in Greenville.
