The Sanderson girls basketball team pulled off an upset in the semifinals of the Cap 7 Conference Tournament, defeating Millbrook in overtime.
After Sanderson came from behind in the fourth quarter to tie the game and send it to overtime, the Spartans defeated the Wildcats, 53-51.
Sanderson jumped out to a 10-7 lead after the first quarter, and expanded on it's lead in the second quarter.
The Spartans led Millbrook 22-18 at the half. The Wildcats have struggled to score as of late, and that hurt them against Sanderson on Wednesday evening.
However, Sanderson was the one that struggled to score in the third quarter.
Millbrook outscored Sanderson in the third quarter 11-4 to retake the lead headed into the final period.
Trailing 29-26, Sanderson outscored Millbrook 17-14 in the fourth quarter to send the game to overtime.
In the overtime period, the two teams played even, but Sanderson scored two more points than Millbrook to secure the victory.
Millbrook is done with the conference tournament, but the Wildcats will make it into the state tournament which begins next week.
Sanderson will advance to take on Enloe in the conference tournament championship game on Friday night. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at Broughton.
