A few weeks ago I was asked a question about the all-conference teams during one of the live chats we have on HighSchoolOT.com. I responded to the question with a response that isn't 100-percent true now.

I said all-conference teams have lost their importance. It seems all-conference teams now have so many players on them, they lose their prestige.

Well, shortly after that remark our All-OT Team committee met to determine the players who would make up our team. We made phone calls to some of the area coaches to discuss some options with them, and one of the Tri-9 coaches we talked with called me out on my remark.

This year, the Tri-9 has done what most others don't do. They have actually put together a legitimate all-conference team. There are a 11 players plus an athlete. There aren't 47 offensive players on the Tri-9 all-conference team.

The coach I spoke with described how tough it was for the coaches to sit down and do that, and that it took them a few hours. But it's well worth it. It makes the all-conference teams more legitimate.

When our All-OT Team comes out after the state championships in December, you will see a team that resembles a team you would put on the field. We've also added a few athlete spots and a special teams section.
