Athens Drive offensive lineman Rob Crisp officially accepted an invitation to the U.S. Army All-American Bowl Friday afternoon.
A ceremony was held in the school's gymnasium at 1:30 p.m. where Crisp accepted in the invitation.
The All-American Bowl, played annually in San Antonio, Texas, is a national showcase for 90 high school football players who excel on and off the field. This year's game will be played Jan. 9 and will air on NBC at 1 p.m.
Crisp, a 6-foot-7, 300-pound senior, has committed to play football at North Carolina State University. Rivals.com ranks Crisp as the nation's No. 3 offensive tackle, the No. 2 prospect in the state of North Carolina, and the No. 11 prospect nationally.
In April, Crisp choose the Wolfpack over Clemson, Georgia, Miami, Michigan, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia Tech, among others.
Crisp spent his first three years of high school playing for the Tigers of Chapel Hill. However, over the summer, Crisp moved to Raleigh and attended Athens Drive this season.
In September, Crisp was named to the U.S. Army Player of the Year watch list.
The Jaguars are 9-3 this season, and finished in a three-way tie for second place in the Tri-9 Conference. Athens Drive will travel to Southern Durham Friday night in the second round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association's 4-A state playoffs.
