Apex rising senior Andy Knox has qualified for the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship to be held July 20-25 at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, N.J.
Knox finished third at a sectional qualifier at MacGregor Downs County Club on Monday, giving him one of four berths to the championship. He shot a 69 in the first round and 70 in the second round.
Ravenscroft golfer Wilson Day also qualified for the championship earlier this month at the Gaston Country Club in Gastonia.
The U.S. Girl's Junior Championships will also be held at the Trump National Golf Club on the same dates as the boy's championship. It is the third time the championships have been held at the same time and at the same location.
According to the championship Web site, the junior championships are the U.S. Golf Association's fastest growing championships. Last year, the U.S. Junior Amateur had more than 3,100 entries while the girls had 929.
Amateur golfers 17-years-old or younger may enter the junior championships.
