Leesville Road quarterback Jake Groeschen drops back to pass against Wakefield. (October 10, 2008)
Leesville Road head coach David Green confirmed Wednesday morning that quarterback Jake Groeschen will sign his National Letter of Intent Wednesday afternoon with Wingate.
Groeschen transferred to Leesville Road last summer from Cardinal Gibbons, and became the Pride's starting quarterback.
In 13 games, Groeschen completed 105 of 222 passes for 1,564-yards and 12 touchdowns. He also picked up 427-yards on the ground.
Leesville Road was 10-3 last season, finishing second in the Cap-7 Conference behind Wake Forest-Rolesville, and advanced to the second round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association 4-AA playoffs.
