The thoughest schedule that any of these teams played is douglas byrd. Coming for the MSEC byrd only lost to JACK BRITT and 71st. Bryd also beat westover, and richmond senior. They will beat the number 1 seed this weekend.

wwow! southern durham? it doesnt matter about the favorable conditions they still should have scored more then a TD. hillside and fuquay both played in the same conditions and put up big numbers.

I don't think you can be so judgemental when these games were played in such unfavorable conditions. On a normal playing field, Southern will beat Hillside and it looks like it's going to dry up for friday. Southern tends to slack off against weaker teams and step up just when they need to. It will be a good one, but my money is on the Spartans, my alma mater. My son's team, South Granville, lost out, so I'll be in Durham for this one. Go big RED!

I agree Fuquay hasn't played a tough schedule at all, and that could hurt them in the playoffs as early as Friday, but Southern Durham state champs?

They barely beat one of the weak teams that Fuquay destroyed... Athens Drive. Southern had to score late, and have some luck to convert the 2 point conversion, to beat Athens 8-7. That does not have the looks of a state championship team. Hillside beats them Friday.

I don't see how you can say that Fuquay is losing in the 2nd round this year, Fuquay arguably has the best team they've had in years. Give them a bit more credit than that.
