Tarboro's Todd Gurley II (#1) runs the ball as Tarboro defeats Lincolnton 39 to 36 at the 2011 2AA State Championship game Saturday December 3, 2011 at Carter-Finley field in Raleigh, NC.
South Johnston High School will host a Shrine Bowl Combine on Saturday.
The combine is the eastern-most Shrine Bowl Combine this spring.
Registration for kickers, punters and long-snappers will begin at 9:30 a.m., with registration for position players at 10 a.m. Registration will be held at the new gymnasium next to the football stadium.
All Shrine Bowl Combines are only open to rising seniors, and the cost is $20 per athlete. The combine will be held rain or shine.
There are six stations for testing at the combine – 40-yard dash, pro agility, bench press, vertical jump, height/weight/photo, and skill development drills. Athletes will rotate through each station.
The 40-yard dash will be measured on a rubber track. Each athlete will get two attempts at the drill. Pro agility and vertical jump drills will be done indoors in the gym. The skill development drills will take place on the field. Athletes should bring shoes for each of the activities.
Kickers, punters and quarterbacks should bring their own footballs, as there will be a limited number of footballs available at the combine.
Athletes can also bring highlights or game tapes to the combine to turn in at registration.
Results will be published by the NC Shrine Bowl committee.
South Johnston High School is located at 10381 US 301 South, Four Oaks, NC, 27524. This is the only combine being held east of Burlington this year.
