The North Carolina High School Athletic Association has entered a partnership which has produced a series of four sixty second public service announcements for radio.
The PSAs have been distributed to every radio station in the state of North Carolina.
The NCHSAA, in partnership with the North Carolina Athletic Directors Association and the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS), produced the annoucements for airing across the state.
"Studies show that high school students involved in athletics and other extracurricular activities typically have higher grade point averages and fewer disciplinary problems while learning life skills that typically cannot be taught in the classroom," said NCHSAA commissioner Davis Whitfield in a letter that accompanied the PSAs.
"High schools still constitute the core of most of the communities here in North Carolina, and the students who attend them will soon be charting the future of our community. This program is designed to give them the support they need to succeed."
