Granville Central track star Tevin Hester signs his National Letter of Intent to run at Clemson University on Feb. 1, 2012.
Two track and field standouts at Granville Central High School will be running for universities in South Carolina in the fall of 2012.
Tevin Hester, a two-time Carolina 12 Conference Runner of the Year and 2011 High School Track All-American, will attend Clemson University. Hester, a sprinter, has a personal best of 10.5 seconds in the 100 meter and 21.17 in the 200 meter.
"I'm very proud of Tevin, this is a great accomplishment for him," Granville Central track coach Raymond Noel said. "He worked extremely hard for four years and is the ultimate competitor."
Brianna Haith will also be heading south to run track in college. And while her and Hester were teammates for the last four years, they'll be on opposite sides of the biggest rivalry in South Carolina by the fall of 2012. Haith will be taking her speed to the University of South Carolina.
Haith is a two-time state champion (2009, 2010) in the 400 meters and also won state championships in 2012 in the 200 meter and long jump. Her personal best of 54.45 in the 400 meters is the current state record.
"I'm very proud and excited about Brianna signing to South Carolina," Noel said. "She is a natural talent with a very large upside. It has been my pleasure to coach her."
