Video of Sanderson's Ryan Jeffers' walk-off double

May 15, 2014

I posted a blog last night about not being there to see the game, but thanks to YouTube, we can all see the last hit.

With a 3-2 count, and with Sanderson trailing Middle Creek 2-1 with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning, Ryan Jeffers hit the ball to right field, bringing in two RBIs and sealing the win.

Apr 12, 2012

West Henderson High School will recognize the 20th anniversary of a North Carolina High School Athletic Association state baseball championship, according to the Hendersonville Times-News.

West Henderson won the state 3-A baseball championship in 1992, sweeping Southern Alamance in two straight games by scores of 3-0 and 6-4. Jim Hyatt was in his second year as baseball coach at West and went on to coach for 19 seasons, until 2009. Anthony Lindsey was named as the Most Valuable Player in the championship series.

The 1992 state championship team will be honored by West Henderson on Friday. The ceremony will take place prior to West Henderson's home game against rival North Henderson, with the game scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
