As the Clayton Comets look to compete against Knightdale in the final week of the season for second place in the Greater Neuse River Conference, the team moves into the OT Top 12 for the first time since the beginning of the season.
Clayton posts a 7-3 overall record and defeated rival West Johnston 48-21 last week. The Comets are now ranked No. 11 in the Triangle poll.
Lee County dropped out of the poll one week after entering it. The Yellow Jackets lost to Athens Drive on Friday night, 36-23. The win likely clinched a playoff berth for the Jaguars.
Cleveland moved back into the Top 10 at No. 10 with a 47-21 win over South Johnston, and Orange fell from No. 10 to No. 12 after a 28-21 loss to Cardinal Gibbons.
The regional poll remained unchanged this week with Richmond County ranked No. 1. Leesville Road, Scotland County, Garner and Wakefield round out the top five.
