Raleigh, N.C. — Sanderson junior Alim McNeill announced Monday evening that the defending National Champion Clemson Tigers extended the standout Spartan a scholarship offer.
Clemson is eighth Atlantic Coach Conference program to offer McNeill, joining Boston College, Duke, Florida State, Louisville, NC State, North Carolina, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.
McNeill also holds offers from Appalachian State, Arkansas, Arkansas State, Campbell, UNC Charlotte, East Carolina, Florida, Florida Atlantic, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Old Dominion, Penn State, Purdue, Rutgers, South Carolina, Texas Christian, Tulane and Western Kentucky.
The standout junior told HighSchoolOT.com in January that Virginia Tech was his No. 1 choice, but the rising senior said last month that he no longer has a designated top choice.
McNeill, who also plays linebacker for the Spartans, tallied 82 tackles – 18 for loss – six sacks, two forced fumbles and one interception last season.
He also appeared on the offensive side of the ball in 12 games last season. McNeill tallied 15 carries for 69 rushing yards and six touchdowns, and he also recorded four catches for 24 yards and one score.
