Clayton, N.C. — Clayton standout junior wide receiver Devin Carter has committed to NC State, sources confirmed to HighSchoolOT Friday afternoon.
NC State extended a scholarship offer to Carter on April 17.
Carter also held offers from UNC-Charlotte, Colorado State, East Carolina, Elon, Michigan State, Minnesota, Old Dominion and Wake Forest.
Carter said in April that NC State wide receivers coach George McDonald offered the scholarship at Clayton High School in-between workouts and classes.
“They have a really good team this year; they have good size and they’re strong,” Carter said. “And I like the school. It seems like a good environment to play in."
Carter led Clayton with 78 catches for 1,167 yards and 15 touchdowns in his junior campaign. He also became first wide receiver in North Carolina history with a touchdown reception in eight-straight games last season.
The rising senior has garnered invites to the Nike Opening and Under Armour All-America football camps this summer.
