Chapel Hill, Southeast Raleigh tied at No. 1 in girls basketball poll

Two girls basketball teams expected to contend for state championships in two difference classifications this season are sitting at the top of the Triangle Top 12 Poll this week.

Chapel Hill and Southeast Raleigh are tied for first place in the poll this week.

The Tigers post a perfect 14-0 overall record, which includes winning the Holiday Invitational championship in December. Most recently, Chapel Hill defeated Orange on Friday night 90-16.

Southeast Raleigh posts a 13-2 overall record, but is undefeated against teams from North Carolina. The Bulldogs fell twice to out-of-state teams in the Upward Classic in South Carolina over the Christmas break.

Broughton, Apex, and Cary round out the top five in the girls poll.
