Carver High School has named Germane Crowell as its new head football coach, according to the Winston-Salem Journal.
Crowell, age 36, will be in his first head coaching position. The former North Forsyth star played at the University of Virginia and then was a wide receiver in the National Football League. Crowell played five seasons with the Detroit Lions after being drafted by the club in the second round and had one season on the New Orleans Saints roster.
Crowell will replace Melvin Palmer, who has resigned after three seasons at the helm.
According to the Winston-Salem Journal, Crowell is a pastor at Burning Flame Christian Church and has been a teacher’s assistant at North Forsyth while also coaching ninth grade basketball. He will work in in-school suspension at Carver.
