— Cardinal Gibbons and Riverside will complete their football game against one another later this month.

According to the official Cardinal Gibbons football Twitter account, the game will be finished on Thursday, Sept. 28, at 7 p.m. It will be played at Cardinal Gibbons.

The game was originally scheduled for Sept. 1. After a lengthy lightning delay, the game started late but was eventually suspended as more lightning moved in.

The game will be picked up with 3:53 left in the first quarter and with Riverside leading 2-0.

Cardinal Gibbons is currently 3-0 on the season and Riverside sits at 2-1. Both teams had bye weeks scheduled for the week of Sept. 29.

N.C. High School Athletic Association rules state that once a game is started a result must be reported. The two teams can agree to end the game with the current score, or they can finish the game at a later date. If one team refuses to finish the game, that team must forfeit.
