NC State picked up an in-state recruit on Friday, less than a week before National Signing Day.
Bunn wide receiver Johnathan Alston verbally committed to the Wolfpack on Friday morning, according to Bunn head coach Chris Miller.
At 6-foot-3 and 194-pounds, Alston is a 3-star player, according to Scout.com.
Alston had offers from a number of other schools including Arkansas, East Carolina, Georgia, Minnesota, North Carolina, Notre Dame, South Carolina, Syracuse and Tennessee. At the end of his recruiting process, Alston had narrowed his choices to NC State and UNC.
As a senior, Alston caught 38 passes for 783 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also posted 223 rushing yards and three touchdowns. On defense, Alston recorded 73 tackles, eight tackles for loss, seven sacks and two interceptions.
Last season, Bunn posted a 10-3 overall record, including a 7-0 mark in the Northern Carolina 2-A Conference. The Wildcats made a run to the third round of the state playoffs before falling to Northside-Jacksonville.
National Signing Day is slated for Wednesday, Feb. 6.
