The undefeated, defending champion Millbrook girls cruised to a 55-32 victory over Enloe in round 1 of the 2013 NCHSAA 4A playoffs. Senior Briana Day led the Wildcats putting up a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. She was the only Wildcat in double figures scoring.

The Wildcats did not have their cleanest game of the season, turning it over 14 times and giving up 9 offensive rebounds to the Eagles, but Millbrook Coach Chris East was happy to get some chemistry going with his first unit.

“This is the only time all year we’ve had our full compliment of players, to have all the seniors back and playing. I think we’re still going through the gelling process.” East said.

The Wildcats jumped out of the gate a little slow, with the Eagles keeping it even through the first 3 and a half minutes, but with the score tied 5-5, the Lady Wildcats went on a 16-2 run to close the first quarter.

During the run, Millbrook asserted their dominance in the paint, scoring 13 of the 16 points during the run in the paint.

The Lady Wildcats advance to round two of the playoffs on Wednesday night when they will host Apex who defeated Pinecrest 50-42.

Lydia Beckwith was the lone Eagle in double figures with 11 points. Enloe finished their season 11-15.
