Who is your pick for the biggest underachiever this season so far.
    I would say PC.
Cary is in the running but injuries were a factor.
As far as I know PC has no excuss for their sixth place position.

Azura runs the point for them. Even with her, I don't think they beat Athens, Green Hope, Holly Springs. They have a chance to beat Middle Creek but they are pretty good themselves.

I know Cary is missing Azura. When will she return to play? also, they must be missing someone else as well, (point guard?) as they have not been doing very well. Who else are they missing other than Azura?

Best of luck to Cary but they won't beat Athens...should be interesting.....

Look out for those Cary Imps as they get healthy. Cary will make a push for 3rd.

    GO IMPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • redflamebball Dec 20, 2012

I agree with that assessment dlw. Green Hope is pretty good and getting better. Athens is the big surprise, but knowing Jordan, it should not be a shocker that they are competitive.

I saw Green Hope play last night. They are still the team to beat in the Tri-9. Athens is turning out to be 3rd best, and of course Holly Springs is right there at the top with Green Hope. Green Hope playing very well right now, smothering defense and good ball movement. Getting better each game -- Don't count them out of Regionals just yet.

  • six72000 Dec 13, 2012

Looks like Green Hope has made a statement and will not go quietly. For them it appears to be business as usual. Speaking on the win vs. Holly Springs.

  • redflamebball Nov 30, 2012

Saw Athens girls play the other night. Jordan is doing a good job with them. Look for them to upset some people both in conference and outside. They have a shot at possibly making the 5th spot in the Tri-9.

Hopefully Azzura will be back after Christmas. Middle Creek will still compete but not a real shot at finishing at the top. I still think Green Hope and Holly Springs are the top 2. After that is is basically up in the air.

Pretty interesting first week in the Tri-Nine. Conference play will be extremely close with fourth quarter stamina/determination determining the victor. I love this game!

    @tojanakany- What happened to Stevens?

  • tojanakany Nov 19, 2012

Stevens is probably out for the season.

  • six72000 Nov 19, 2012

    Holly springs wins the league
Panther creek/Cary battle for second with Tuttle and Harris for PC and Stevens and Whitney for Cary
Green Hope finishes 3rd when losing 80% of your offense its hard to replenish that in a few months
Next group includes Apex in the 5/6 spot followed by Athens yes Athens with the combo of the Hunter sisters very talented Fuquay Varina and Middle creek the transfer tore her ACL and is out for the season.
Lee Co. rounds out the 9 teams respectfully .

Keep an eye on Lee County this year. They have a new point guard that can fly and they have Olivia Sturdivant back as the most shut down defensive player in the league. They still will have a losing record no doubt, but they may sneak up and bite you if you are not careful. Ike Godfrey has them looking up for a change.

    2)Holly S.
    3)Pant. C.
    4)Green Hope
    5)Middle C.
    6)Apex 7)Middle C. 8)F.V 9)Lee C.

I see a lot of talk about leadership and not what wins games DEFENSE and Cary has one of the best shot blockers in the state. And Cary has new leadership with a new head coach.

Great player for union pines. They will really miss her. Congratulations. Coach Robbie. Not only is she an outstanding bb player, she is also one of the top softball players. In the state.

Actually, I did not give Tyler Ross enough credit, her actual correct stats
for last year were 16.7 points per game and 13.8 rebounds per game. She is special player and will be a big help to Middle Creek.

Watch out for Middle Creek girls to move up this year, they now have Tyler Ross,
an outstanding young lady that transferred from Union Pines. She is a 5'11"
southpaw who can jump out of the gym. She averaged 15 points and 12 rebounds
per game last season, also good FT shooter. Just an outstanding person and
    BB player!

You want to talk about leadership..hope you are not referring to Gaff..cause I wouldn't call that leadership. Holly Springs does have the best player and that will certainly give them a chance to win it. Don't think Cary will get any higher than 3rd mainly due to leadership.

ntheweeds...while I agree with you that the #3-6 positions are up in the air and will come down to preparation and coaching, I am struggling to understand Green Hope finish on top. I agree to be the best, you need to beat the best, but your talking about replacing or manufacturing 30+ points, 10+ rebounds and leadership in key moments for that team. I see GH as very competitive, they just don't have the roster that Holly Springs or Cary have. IMO

  • ntheweeds Sep 26, 2012

    1. Green Hope
    2. Holly Springs
    3. Panther Creek
    4. Apex
    4. Cary
    4. Middle Creek
    7. Athens Look for a competitive middle of the pack. I think coaching matters a lot. #1 and #2 could flip easy but after that it is literally up for grabs. Athens could move up. None of these teams will beat Millbrook!!

  • jsavina Sep 24, 2012

    1. Holly Springs
    2. Cary
    3. Green Hope
    4. Middle Creek
    5. Apex
    6. Panther Creek
    7. Fuquay Varina 8. Athens Drive 9. Lee County I think the top five will be very competitive and could compete with the likes of Millbrook if they come to play!
