Patriot, I try to forget about Carrboro, it is to liberal there. I don't believe there is a single Patriot living in that town.

But look out for HERITAGE, they have have 5 players over 5' 7" so they are very impressive in warmups!! As a Patriot you should be concerned about our heritage.

Heritage is on a roll, wouldn't surprise me if they won the State Championship this year.

2008 Garner won both games against Clayton, until Clayton won last Wednesday,Garner had won 12 in a row.

^Agreed, Ric Flair. There was a time when I watched wrestling on a reg. basis - The Nature Boy was one of my favorites...lol. I'd put GT or Clayton against any team in the Cap 8.

Kmag, please tell everyone how a 2-10 Heritage would beat either of the top 5 teams in the triangle?

Battling, seems kmag is misinformed on quite a few topics.

The Comets won the game in 2008 when they won their last conference. Clint Mixon played then. We used to win regularly when I was there when Garner had Mays. But since 2008 it's been all Garner but the games have been close.

^Good point, GTown. Don't ya just love it when people just throw stuff out without doing any research? lol

For the record, the Millbrook/Garner series has not been dominated by one school as previously posted... Actually, Millbrook only leads the all-time series 29-27. I don't think that's dominating, but apperantly our definitions of "dominating" are quite different.

Wednesday night was Claytons first win against Garner since 12/8/2006

I wasn't talking about Knightdale, I was talking about Garner and Clayton. Beating Garner in basketball is a Millbrook tradition, Millbrook owns Garner!!

is knightdale tied for first in the cap8 with a 5-2. wins over Millbrook, WFR, Enloe,Wakefield and Heritage

Kmag, you are making predictions that will never be proven. Unless, they meet in the StAte playoffs.

Good that you feel that way, but people with a lot more knowledge than you disagree.

Btw, what is Heritages record and wheat did Broughton shoot from the field? Sounds like one of those off shooting nits you mentioned earlier.

Btw, a Clayton kid had 26 in the first half last night.

Hopefully, one of us will get to prove the other wrong.

  • kmagnusson Feb 9, 2013

Holding Broughton to 38 points is great Defense. Add Heritage to my list of teams that can beat Garner or Clayton.

  • flairrick Feb 9, 2013

How did that work out for Millbrook and Broughton last night?

  • kmagnusson Feb 9, 2013

I have not seen either play this year but I know Garner is not as good as previous years. I did see Garner play the past 3 years. The top Cap 8 teams are great on defense while Garner and Clayton are more offensive minded. On a off shooting night I'll take the defensive team. You can always play great defense by hustling and being fundamentally sound. I have, however, witnessed many a great player hustle, take good shots and still not be able to score with any consistency. Like football, defense wins championships!

"HEY Dee the trojans were 9 fot 23 from the line" lbeck

Can't miss that many & expect to beat a good team. GT/Clayton is a good rivalry & I'll take either over the Cap 8.

  • waggle right Feb 9, 2013

kmag, there is NO ONE in the CAP 8 that is going to beat Clayton or Garner. They may hang around for awhile, but at the end they wont be there.

So magnusson, you have seen bioth Garner and Clayton play??

  • kmagnusson Feb 9, 2013
    Sports Legend

Broughton, Millbrook and Leesville are the "several teams" in the Cap 8 that I believe
would beat Clayton or Garner. If it was just 2 teams then that would be a couple so 3 teams equate to several.

Dee just does not understand it lbeck even after seeing all of those basketball games. I did not see the game at Garner, but based on Dee's evaluation I would assume the refs cost Clayton the game in Garner??? LOL. We not be matched up equally in football, but when it comes to basketball they are just about equal in talent and coaching.

  • lbeck37439 Feb 8, 2013
    Sports Legend

HEY Dee the trojans were 9 fot 23 from the line, is that the refs doing too.Face it the Trojans got out-played the last 24 mins.Yes it does matter if you get out-scored in the last 24 mins 99% of the time youre going to lose.

The Trojans when to the line more than Clayton (15-19) did.

  • dee z06 Feb 8, 2013

Doesn't matter Garner got out-scored 61 to 40 over the last 24 minutes and Gaskins hit 5 big 3s in the 2nd. Gaskins also missed his last 3 out of 4 foul shots near the end of the game. Garner had 3 chances to tie the game or come within 1 point if fouls were called. I'm not saying Garner would have won the game, I'm just saying be consistance at both ends of the floor. I'm pretty sure everybody can agree on that. I have watched too many basketball games where referees call touch fouls at one end of the floor and then call nothing at the other end of the floor. Just my 2 cents

"several", really. Well I guess the folks who rank the state and the triangle seem to differ with your opinion.

  • kmagnusson Feb 8, 2013

Garner has been a thorn in Clayton's side now for 4 straight years. On paper, this should be the year they get over the hump, which they did last night. We'll see what happens in about two weeks, possibly in GNRC Title game...

guys that is not why Garner lost, they got out-scored 61 to 40 over the last 24 minutes.Plus Gaskins had 22 points and 5 big 3s in the 2nd half.

I hate to blame the referees but within the last 3 minutes of the game Clayton got every touch foul called going to the basket. Garner players got knocked on the floor by Mr. Clark 3 times and nothing was call. All I'm saying is you can't call touch fouls at one end and then don't call nothing when the kids get knocked to the floor at the other end of the court.

Africa, Gary doesn't need to go anywhere to get attention.

He has everyone he needs seeing him at Clayton.

Clemson, WF, Virginia, State, VCU have all been to games and practices.

Gary Clark is this seasons super star in the area. And he will be eligible to play next year but many people believe he will opt out for a prep school to grab a little more atte3ntion for scholarships.

Great win for Trojans - not the bigger or more talented team, but nobody plays harder or with more intensity night in night out. Likewise, nobody coaches any harder than Eddie Gray. Clayton may still win the conference, but Trojans not giving up their 5-year GNRC reign easily...

Someone can correct me on this, but I beleive that due to Clark's age he will be ineligible next year to play for a NCHSAA school. So even though he plays as a junior he is technically a Senior as far athletics are concerned. Can someone verify this?
