Apex High School basketball player T.J. Evans will be headed to the coast this fall.

Evans announced late Thursday night that he has signed with Cape Fear Community College where he will play basketball next season.

A three-year starter on varsity for Apex, Evans led his team to the N.C. High School Athletic Association 4-A state championship in March. He scored 22 points in the championship game, earning Most Outstanding Player honors for the game.

Evans, who stands at 6-foot-1 and 176 pounds, has been a 20-point scorer each season he has played varsity basketball at Apex. He was also the conference's Player of the Year each of his three varsity seasons.

Evans was selected to the N.C. Coaches Association East-West All-Star Game, which will be played in Greensboro next month. He was also an all-district selection.

Nick Stevens will have a full interview with T.J. Evans on Friday. Look for a full story and interview on Friday afternoon.
