We are getting closer to the NCHSAA releasing the volleyball state playoffs brackets, and HighSchoolOT.com is projecting what those playoff brackets might look like.

In this version of the projections, we are using the adjusted winning percentages, which are calculated using 22-game records. Teams who played more than 22 games will drop non-conference games in order to get down to a 22-game record. Teams who played less than 22 games will report their real records.

Here are some takeaways from the latest projections:

  • Holly Springs and North Mecklenburg are tied for the last two spots in the playoffs with 9-11 records.
  • High Point Central, Middle Creek, Independence, and East Mecklenburg are the first four teams out of the playoffs.
  • Jack Britt is the eastern-most West team; Person is the western-most East team.

We used the conference standings and records on HighSchoolOT.com for all local teams and conferences in these projections. For out of area teams and conferences, we used the conference standings and records on MaxPreps.com, the information that the NCHSAA will use. Please report any corrections to nstevens@wral.com.
